Welcome back to Friday Finds! This weeks' finds have a bit of a theme and I've implemented a few of them in my own home, with a few more on the to do list- "bang for your buck" home updates. -ONE- Affordable flushmount lighting options If you've never heard of the dreaded "boob light", take a look up at any builder installed flushmount lighting and see if it reminds you of....*ahem*....a boob. If not, great, but if you have one, Erin Gates of Elements of Style gives you so many beautiful, affordable options to upgrade. -TWO- Installing board and batten We used this tutorial to turn a plain, unused wall in the hallway leading to our garage into a "mudroom" so that jackets, backpacks, purses, etc. had a home instead of landing on the kitchen counter. Centsational Girl posted this tutorial back in 2011 and it is still one of my favorite, inexpensive updates we've made in our home to combat the clutter. -THREE- Add a barn door A barn door adds so much character in the home! They are great space savers for rooms that have a door that opens into the space and a great way to give an open room some privacy. There are so many tutorials available from a full DIY project to ordering the door and hardware to your specifications and DIY'ing the installation. Z Design at Home walks you through the process of purchasing the door and hardware through Artisan Hardware as well as the DIY install, while Anissa from House Seven DIY'ed the door AND the hardware. I can't wait to build one for our master bath. -FOUR- Frame a builder grade mirror ,If we ever finish painting our kitchen cabinets, this project is next on the list, to finish off our son's bathroom makeover. Such a quick and inexpensive bang for your buck project. Cherished Bliss gives you all the details on this DIY rustic wood frame. If you're not up for building the frame yourself, Mirror Mate has lots of great designs to choose from. That's all for this week! Enjoy the weekend and let me know if you've made any "bang for your buck" updates to your home. I'd love to feature your projects.
-Jeanne Welcome to this week's Friday Finds, where I share all things home that have caught my eye the past week. Enjoy your weekend! If you haven't checked out Shop Thirds, you'll want to see their handcrafted homewares and apothecary highlighting artists from all over the country. I love accessorizing with their pieces both in my staged homes as well as my own home. This is a great article from Lowes on how to choose the right white paint color This "in progress" laundry room-mudroom makeover would inspire me to do the laundry! I need that tile in my life! Did you know that you can shop TJ Maxx online? I use round mirrors in every home. Great article on using round mirrors and links to several great options.
Happy Friday all! I'm so frequently asked where I shop for home accessories and furniture, where I've found a specific piece or where to go to get great home related ideas. To help answer those questions, I'm kicking off a series called Friday Finds and I hope you'll check it out each week as a great resource for all things home. Friday Finds is a weekly series of links and loves I've come across that have inspired me throughout the week and I hope will inspire you! I'll be sharing some of the great home decor items I've seen or used as well as helpful links to great information for all homeowners. Feel free to comment to let me know about a specific topic you'd like to see featured on Fridays Finds. This week's finds: Confused on what paint colors to choose when staging a home? Ours will be full of final tax prep as well as some outdoor fun in this gorgeous Spring ATX weather! Last week, we had the pleasure of staging this Alan Muskin built home in Bouldin and it is now on the market and ready for someone to call home!
Known as one of Austin's premiere home builders, The Muskin Company is committed to environmentally friendly construction and has been awarded several accolades including Custom Builder of the Year by the Austin Board of Realtors. This home in Bouldin Creek offers custom concrete counters, polished concrete floors, shaker wood cabinetry, three spacious patios including a rooftop deck and much more. Using pops of oranges and greens and lots of texture in our staging, we worked to give this truly unique property a warm, vibrant look that will highlight the custom features.
